The Elmwood School District is consistently rated as one of the best school districts in Illinois. Along with a top 5% rating in the state, we also received an A+ rating from SchoolSearch, one of only 57 districts statewide. This is because our academic programs are designed to engage the mind and imagination of each and every student. Our Elementary School has smaller class sizes – as low as 15 students per class – which means more personal attention, in a safe and caring learning environment. Each school is modern and well maintained, reflecting the pride our community has in our school system. Beginning in our full-day kindergarten and elementary school, students are encouraged to be lifelong learners with programs such as Bright Futures, Title I, Accelerated Reading and Character Education. In junior high, along with a curriculum based on the Illinois Learning Standards, students are further engaged with mini-classes that prepare them for high school: agriculture, art, keyboarding, and languages. Our high school curriculum prepares students for their future – either in higher education or the workplace. We offer advanced classes such as Calculus, Advanced Chemistry, Honors English, and Physics. We expand opportunities with Illinois Virtual School electives such as Biotechnology, Oceanography, and German. |
