Elmwood High School is within the Elmwood Community Unit School District 322. Elmwood is located 17 miles West of Peoria, IL in Peoria County. Elmwood High School serves students in grades 9-12. Enrollment is steady, generally 200 to 230 students . We offer a comprehensive academic program with expanded course offerings through Illinois Virtual School. There are many features that make Elmwood High School a unique and wonderful educational experience for our students. We believe all children can learn, we educate the whole child—both academically and behaviorally, each teacher is supported in working with all students, best instructional practices are reinforced, and we enjoy wonderful parent support. Unique features of our curriculum include small class sizes, highly qualified teachers, computer classe, Response to Intervention Program, an active Boosters’ Club, Band, Music Classes, and many extra-curricular opportunities. Elmwood High School’s class of 2009 had a composite ACT score of 23.1 and the class of 2010 had a composite score of 22. We offer more than $60,000 in scholarships on an annual basis. The Chicago Sun Times recently named Elmwood High School as one of the top 100 high schools in Illinois based on academic achievement. Elmwood High School is in the top 5% of all schools in the State of Illinois, and the number of State Scholars reflects that success with 10 state scholars in 2010 and 7 state scholars in 2011. Elmwood High School has received the Bright Star Award (high achievement with a low expenditure per pupil) and the Bright A+ award (top 5% of high schools in the State based on ACT scores) and continues to perform well on the Prairie State Achievement Exam (PSAE). More importantly, our staff, parents, and students work in a collaborative fashion to provide a safe, challenging, and nurturing environment for students. We educate, support, and expect respectful and appropriate behavior for all children. These expectations are well communicated and reinforced by all faculty/staff.
