Elmwood Junior High School is within the Elmwood Community Unit School District 322.  Elmwood is located 17 miles West of Peoria, IL in Peoria County.  Elmwood High School serves students in grades 9-12.  Enrollment is steady, generally 200 to 230 students .  We offer a comprehensive academic program with expanded course offerings including Spanish, Agriculture, Art, and Family and Consumer Science.

There are many features that make Elmwood Junior High School a unique and wonderful educational experience for our students.  We believe all children can learn, we educate the whole child—both academically and behaviorally, each teacher is supported in working with all students, best instructional practices are reinforced, and we enjoy wonderful parent support.  Unique features of our curriculum include small class sizes, highly qualified teachers (including two with National Board Certification and 60% with Masters’ Degrees), computer classes, Response to Intervention Program, an active Boosters’ Club, Band, Music Classes, and many extra-curricular opportunities.

Elmwood Junior High School has received the Bright Star Award (high achievement with a low expenditure per pupil) and the Excellence Award for Exemplary Academic Performance on the Illinois Learning Standards and continues to perform well on the Illinois School Achievement Test (ISAT).  More importantly, our staff, parents, and students work in a collaborative fashion to provide a safe, challenging, and nurturing environment for students.  We educate, support, and expect respectful and appropriate behavior for all children.  These expectations are well communicated and reinforced by all faculty/staff.  The feeling of security and safety the students enjoy here at Elmwood Junior High School reflects the success of our commitment to good behavior and academic success.
